On Sunday, May 15th at 12:30 p.m., in the Life Enrichment Center, Jerger Hall, Pasadena Community Church will celebrate the ministry of our Director of Sacred Arts, Bob Drick with a retirement celebration lunch.
Bob has zazzled and bedazzled Pasadena with all his many gifts and talents over the last 22 years of service. Please join us for a celebration suited just for Bob as we say THANK YOU and WE WILL MISS YOU!
We will have baskets around for well wishes and cards. We will also have an area set up if you would like to record your well wishes on video for Bob.

Then on Sunday, May 29th at 11:15 a.m. in Traditional service, we will celebrate Bob on his last Sunday with Pasadena.
On Sunday, May 22 from 10:10 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. in the Hamilton auditorium we will have “ASK THE Assistant to the Bishop.” This session will focus on the UMC’s path forward with the formation of the Global Methodist Church.
Rev. Shanks will explain where the church is in the process, in the negotiations with congregations seeking to leave the UMC, and what all of this means to congregations like Pasadena.

It is not surprising to hear about the church bearing witness to the love of God in Jesus Christ by feeding the hungry, housing the houseless, visiting those in prison, and providing disaster relief.
It is more complex, and perhaps surprising for some to hear about the church’s involvement with public policymakers (i.e. politicians) who possess the power to decide, in the words of the late American political scientist Dr. Harold Laswell, “Who gets what, when, how.” Is this an act of love for the church to be so politically engaged?
