One Day-Two Ramps

The volunteers for the Wheelchair Ramp Ministry met a 8:00 AM to build a ramp for "Furnetta." The PCC team set up a tent, prayed and got to work. At 2:00 the ramp was completed.
Just as we were wrapping up the job and the volunteers were leaving, other volunteers showed up full of energy and ready to work!
Project coordinator Don Graham took the team to a second ramp site. Two hours and 30 minutes later, the smaller ramp was completed. Two ramps for needy folks in one day. That is doing God's work!

Thanks To the Mothers
of Our Church
Not all mothers give birth. Some of the mothers that we celebrate on Mother's Day are mothers to all of our kids. They coach basketball, they teach Sunday School, they lead our youth programs and preschool. We think of them as mothers of our church and we are so grateful for thier love.

This year, our youth sold Mother's Day flowers and it was such an amazing success we ran out! There seems to be no doubt we will do this again in 2009!

Mother-Daughter-Friend
Banquet is Huge Success:
attracts more than 200 women
The Life Enrichment Center was packed by the PCC Mother/Daughter/Friend banquet. In addition to a fashion show featuring designs from the Dress Barn and the crowd was treated to make-up tips and a first rate service from church youth volunteers. The money that was raised will help fund our church's United Methodist Women projects. The UMW has long been one of the driving engines of our church.
PCC's English as a Second Language Ministry
One way Pasadena Community Church reaches out to our community is through our English as a Second Language (ESOL) ministry.

This week, we celebrated the accomplishments of a remarkable group of immigrants who have been studying two nights a week at our church.
They come from all over the world, from Nicaragua to Eastern Europe.
Some are highly educated with Masters and PhD's. Some are young and some are senior citizens. Imagine, learning a new language and culture when you are long past retirement age We honor the tutors and the students.

Pray For Our Youth
Our PCC Youth are preparing for mission work this summer. We will have two groups going out for a week of work. The High School students will be heading to Valdosta, Georgia to rebuild and rehab homes in some of our country's poorest region. The Middle Schoolers will be working in daycares, senior centers and doing other social work in South Carolina. The youth need your prayers and financial support.
Isn't this what we want to teach our kids--to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world? We should also heap huge amounts of thanks on our youth leader Kirsten Jones who is doing an amazing job with our kids.

PCC as The Hands and Feet of Christ
in Our Community
For the second time in two weeks, and this time in pouring rain, Pasadena Community Church members built a wheelchair ramp for a senior citizen who had waited years for help from others.

These ramp projects, coordinated by PCC member Don Graham, change lives. We often hear stories of Seniors who cannot leave home because of a small step that keeps them from rolling their wheelchair outside.

We are now training other congregations how to build these projects. We have plans to build four more right away-why not join us?
